What You Should Know About Windows vs Mac OS

There are people who prefer Windows and those who prefer Mac OS, and each system has its advantages. Both are always upgrading their OSes. Lion is Mac’s most up to date operating system and Windows 8 is the next operating system being released by Windows. Keep reading to learn both what Mac and Windows can offer you.

The best choice you can make is probably Windows, if playing games on your computer is what you spend your time doing. If you like to play games, you will find a better selection on Windows than on a Mac. If you have a new Mac computer, you can run it like a PC by using Bootcamp. For anyone who takes their games seriously, this would be a lot of trouble to go through. And even though Bootcamp is an useful function for running many Windows programs, it may not give you all the speed and power you need for demanding games. Buying a PC made for gaming, though quite expensive, would be your best choice, if you are looking for the best gaming experience. But when it comes to Mac vs. Windows, the latter is definitely the better choice for gamers. A lot of useful software programs come installed on a Mac computer. One of those programs is iLife, which has iPhoto, iDVD, iWeb, and iMovie included. Having the ability to edit your videos, photos and audio files, along with being able to organize and share them, is what you get with these programs. When it comes to software, Windows doesn’t really give you that much. You might think you are getting a lot of software, but many of these are just free trials, so you better read the fine print. You might be surprised after a couple of months, to be told you have to upgrade a program to keep using it. This is particularly true of low-priced PCs. This could make the price comparison not seem quite as good for the PC when compared to a Mac.

There are a lot of absolute advantages offered with Macs and one of those is how much support you can get. When you purchase a Windows based PC, there are different levels of support depending on which store sold it to you and what brand you bought. Still, when you do some research you’ll find out that most of the brands of PCs out there only offer bad or, at best, mediocre levels of customer service. When you want top notch customer support you’re forced to pay for it.

Macintoshes, though, have a much better reputation when it comes to tech support. Not only can you call them for help, they have a ton of repair centers out there where you can take your computer when you need it to be serviced instead of having to ship it off somewhere. The above points regarding Windows vs Mac OS are just some of the things you should consider before making a choice. When making the final decision is too tough, it’s a good idea to go visit one of the major computer retailers out there and maybe check out an Apple store if there is one in your local area. You’ll find that it’s easier to make a final decision once you’ve gotten up close and personal with all of your options.
